Oaty Flapjacks

Hey everyone,

I have always shared a passion for baking especially when I was younger and I used to spend the day baking a chocolate cake with my Nan. As I've grown up I've always wanted to keep that going so I'm determined to start baking more as it's something I adore and it's true what they say, baking is therapeutic.

You may have seen my little review of the Love Tanya book and I talked about the lovely baking chapter which is one I will always go back to. I was flicking through it and I spotted FLAPJACKS which is something I've never made before. The recipe was super easy to do and required about 5 ingredients so it's not going to break the bank. My experience with these was interesting because I did line my baking tray with greaseproof paper so some of the mixture did stick so my advice would be to just put the mixture straight onto the baking tray.

You will need:
125 g Sugar
125 g Butter
250 g Porridge Oats
6 Tablespoons Golden Syrup

Steps to follow:
1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees.
2. Melt the butter in a medium pan on a low heat the add the golden syrup and sugar and heat gradually.
3. Once the sugar has disolved and the butter has melted stir in the porridge oats (making sure you get all the mixture stirred in).
4. Put the mixture into a baking tin or onto a baking tray and bake for 20 minutes.
5. Once they are cooked leave them to cool and cut them into squares and ENJOY!

Have you tried this recipe? What was your favourite thing to bake when you was younger?
