WELL BEING | Sometimes We Do Fall Out of a Routine

Lately I have fallen out of my gym and healthy eating routine due to work commitments and having to commute to London (which might I add is like HELL). I've really noticed a turn in my health this last week and its not for the good.

You may have read my 5 Ways to Help My Wellbeing and Mind post where I spoke about ways I'm going to up my health game and take some time for self-care. Now although I have been following a few of these steps, some of them I have let slip a bit. This last week I haven't really had time to go to the gym or workout and I know that isn't really an excuse as there is a thing called YouTube which has plenty of workout videos I just haven't been in the right mind set.

I find working out and going to the gym really helps my well-being and mind. After I complete a gym session I instantly feel in a better mood and even proud of myself that I've dragged myself there. But do you know what I have realised lately; sometimes it's not always a bad thing to fall off track and we shouldn't beat ourselves up for not sticking to a routine (whatever that might be). I used to feel bad when I ate the wrong things and I would worry what it would do to my body. Now I realise that it's not going to harm me or my body if I enjoy some carbs or a glass of wine. I won't lie I don't always enjoy eating healthy and if there is carbs in front of me I will usually choose to eat it.

Sometimes it's okay to indulge in your favourite foods or drink (I know my weakness is WINE). I tend to indulge at the weekends but as we all know it's all in moderation. I like to think I eat healthy during the week and I try to eat lots of fruit, veg and drink lots of water throughout the day but let's face it not all of us are perfect and although we want to stay in shape we do eat and drink what we like at times.

The point of this post was to just highlight the fact that it's not always a bad thing to fall out of a routine whether it's health or fitness and sometimes we just need to treat ourselves to those so called 'naughty' things in life. You might not even follow at health and fitness plan (I wouldn't say I would either) but I think it's just understanding that we shouldn't feel bad if we do.

  2. The message here is beautiful and so fitting with my current life. Learning to allow myself to fall away from the norm is so difficult, especially since I need it to feel secure, but I have been learning to just take things as they come, and not be so hard on myself if I happen to miss yoga or wake up later.

  3. I love fitness classes, reading, eating healthy and having deep bubble baths. However, when a period of depression took hold I stopped all of that and constantly ate chocolate on the sofa....I’m now enjoying these things again but I don’t feel bad if I miss a couple.

    1. Oh yeah I totally agree they are amazing. Yes 100% when you're not feeling your best then its okay to indulge and let go.
