Weekend in Amsterdam 2019

Hello loves,

I have just had the best weekend in Amsterdam with Josh so I am sat writing this blog post feel very refreshed right now. We spent the weekend exploring the beautiful, quaint city which I am sure you have seen all over my Instagram and there is plenty more content still to come!

We travelled to Amsterdam on the Saturday so it was a VERY early start and I think I was awake for about 21 hours. Our hotel was located just outside of the main centre itself- I would say about 20 minutes by public transport. Amsterdam is full of buses, trams, trains and metros so getting around the city couldn't be easier (and to top it off they are all on time)! We took some time to explore the city in the afternoon to get our bearings and we took some pretty pictures whilst it was still bright.

The evening came and just my luck- the Champions League was and it was an all English final so you know what my evening contained. We had a delicious dinner in a cute little local Italian so I was feeling the bloat a little bit. The Pizza I had was so fresh and I demolished every last inch.

Sunday:The only real full day of our holiday that we felt refreshed and alive. The morning we met up with Josh's friend and had a delicious coffee which might I say was made coconut milk but it was AMAZING- so sweet and creamy. We took the opportunity to walk round the city and my feet by the end of it were broken!

Lunchtime we didn't really know what we fancied but we found a cute little sandwich shop which did the most yummy pancakes and sandwiches so I picked between both mine and Josh's. The bread in Amsterdam was so FRESH. We decided we wanted to be tourists just a little bit so we did the Heineken Experience which is located just outside of Dam Square. It's a self guided tour so you just walked around the museum learning about how they made the beer and the history behind it. What topped it off is you got 2 free beers with the tickets and a complementary one when walking round.
I'm not much of a beer person so I was feeling a little bit tipsy.

For dinner we wanted to treat ourselves to a posh dinner so what better way than to have a steak for dinner! We went to a lovely grill restaurant where we went ALL out and had calamari, chicken wings, ribs and a steak- which was between me and Josh don't worry.

Monday:Our last day- I really didn't want to go home. We spent the morning looking round the outside of the Ajax Stadium which was Josh's idea but I did quite enjoy it to be honest. I couldn't get enough of the sandwiches so I had a club sandwich for lunch- I had to make the most of the bread right?

Amsterdam will forever be one of my favourite cities which I know we will visit again soon. The Dutch are some of the most friendliest people I have ever met and they can't do enough for you. I wanted to say thank you to everyone at the Olympic Hotel who were so friendly and the rooms were just so perfect and comfy!

Have you ever visited Amsterdam? What are you favourite things to do in the city?

Lots of love Chloe x
